EP:239 | A Shark Discussion with Tom Rowland
This week we have saltwater expert Tom Rowland on to discuss sharks and how they are affecting fishing. It seems social media is full of videos of sharks attacking many different species of hooked fish. It’s really sad to see a big tarpon or any other fish get targeted. Is it the way we fish that is causing this? Are they conditioned to a fisherman’s habits? Is there a solution? Are there more sharks now than ever? Why do we seem to see more now on the beaches? It’s an interesting discussion and Tom has great insight. You’ll want to hear the story of Tom and his dad catching a 13.5 foot Hammerhead in the Keys. Listen, Learn and Enjoy .

Overpopulation? Where have people said "overpopulation"? Did I miss where they discuss how humans kill millions of sharks a year? Scientists are worried about the number of sharks still alive, and no species on sharks would be considered "overpopulated!"

I can’t keep the wild hogs from destroying my farm. They root up every square inch of soil searching for nut grass tubers, so chuff is a hard no for me because of hogs. I put hunting pressure in 1 area and they move to the other side. Farm is only 80 acres, so trapping hasn’t been overly successful, new one show up faster than you can get them out of the trap.😀

$38? Just mix dish soap 1:4 with mineral spirits or turpentine. Cut your fingernails and clean your nails with a it and a nail brush. In the shower or sink, start close to the core of your body washing to the tips your fingers/toes (depending where you might have been exposed). I keep a bottle near my kitchen sink and in the shower.

Id be interested if deer harvested were tested for herbicides in their systems. Not a big fan of this idea. Here we found mixed wildflowers, switch grasses, and clover, oats, millet, sunflower mix planted once and left alone holds more deer and wildlife than managed clover or other deer mix

I follow must of the Turkey biologist that are on internet, they describe good turkey brood habitat, but a picture is worth a 1000 words. Dr. Harper did an excellent video on this. This would be a very helpful topic to cover, especially for the smaller land owners.

I’ve had the same belief about shooting the gobbling birds changing the gobbling trait In birds for 20 years. I’ve only hunted turkeys on public land ( mainly same 2 wma’s) for 30 years. The majority of Tom’s just don’t gobble much from the tree and forget getting them to shock gobble. I’ve learned to listen closely for drumming and to limit the amount and volume of my calling. In 1994 you could just walk thru the woods crunching leafs and get birds to gobble and come to you.
